Our Boy

“Were is he?” Were is he?”
She is waking. Sitting.
Leaning toward the edge.

But he is not on the floor.
In this room.
This house.

Our boy has fallen,
But not from this bed
Rather from the thin ledge of life.

And in the morning she’ll lie prone
Screaming on the laundry room floor.
Trying to dig a hole in the water of her grief.

I don't quite know how I came across your blog, but this poetry has me sobbing right now. We lost our baby girl this past February - her name is Kennedy Olivia, and you can see her story here http://trevorbrucki.blogspot.com/search/label/Kennedy%20Olivia

There are no words to describe the pain you must be going through. I'm so sorry for your loss.
